Event Partner
Sewa Maryland LEAD Volunteers would be collecting non-perishable food items for donating to the local food banks and pantries. Each LEAD volunteer can get maximum 4 hours per month.
Need adult and high school volunteers to help sort through e-waste, pack them and drop them off with Ava Recycling. We are partnering with Ava Recycling to dispose them appropriately without adding to the landfill.
Sewa Maryland joins AmeriCorps and its partner American Diversity Group to engage senior citizens in Act Green, Save the Future. By consistently following small, yet impactful, habits toward achieving a greener environment, a BIG change can be made.
This is an educational and awareness workshop followed by a month-long activity with senior citizens to promote good habits for reducing the carbon footprint and helping the environment.
A commemoration ceremony remembering the victims, fallen heroes, first responders of, and volunteers who helped during and after, the 9/11 tragedy and appreciation of volunteers who participated in a year-long campaign for 9/11 National Day of Remembrance and Service would also be held.

Sewa International (Maryland chapter), Cherokee Lane Elementary School of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), and American Diversity Group (ADG) are collaborating for the school community to clean up the rain garden areas and the front of the school. This activity is supported by AmeriCorps for environmental stewardship and justice. Please bring your family members, friends, and neighbors to help protect the environment.
Event Date: Thursday, August 1, 8-10 am
Please register for the event using either the QR code or the link given in the flyer and please mark your calendars. Each volunteer needs to sign up separately. Children under 16 years age need adult supervision.

Sewa North Jersey has adopted Parks in North Jersey and the Route 46 in Parsippany. We schedule highway and parks clean up once a quarter. A great opportunity to give back to the community for those who have a couple hours to spare whenever you get a chance.
Sewa North Jersey Electronic Recycling Drive. Volunteers to collect any of the following 10 small items such as (powder cords, cell phones, laptops, keyboards, modems, corded or cordless phones). No Exceptions. Collected items will be dropped off at the Parsippany Recycling Center

SAVING A LIFE – OPIOID OVERDOSE, a workshop by US FDA, in partnership with American Diversity Group (ADG), about how to handle Opioid drug overdose to save a life will be presented on Aug. 3, 2024, from 11 am to 12 noon at the Sewa Community Center. It would be followed by a session by Ram Kumar ji (a LEAD parent) on Sewa outreach activities, and "Introduction to Darshana" exhibition.
This will be a 4 hours event in total.
All LEADs should attend. Lunch will be provided.

September 11, 9/11 is declared as Patriotic day and National day of Service. . To commemorate the lives and services of fallen heroes, Sewa International in collaboration with Americorps to conducted environmental stewardship activities throughout the year. 5K run will mark as the finale of the effort for the year of 2024.
Come and join us for the fun. We will provide saplings to all the families and provide tips to become a responsible plant parent. Even if you dont run, just come for the fun. There will be some refreshments as well.

9/11 Memorial Inauguration
Sewa International is collaborating with Americorps for the 9/11 National Day of service honoring the lives and service of our fallen heroes.To promote Environmental stewardship , we encourage community to avoid using plastic bags . Instead use the cloth bags.At the senior center, we will paint a cloth bag and donate these bags to the underprivileged community.

Sewa International has partnered with GreenFriends Farm for this event. Volunteers will contribute to both indoor and outdoor activities at GreenFriends Farm. Outdoors, you will assist in beautifying the Garden and Orchard through activities such as harvesting, weeding, tree care, fencing and creating a walking path with mulch. Discover how sustainably sourced wood is used to construct boats for river activities and learn the craft of building sturdy cedar boats.Learn about our civic science water quality monitoring program, where water samples are analyzed to ensure the Raritan River's safety. Explore the importance of rainwater harvesting in addressing water scarcity, promoting sustainability, and enhancing community resilience to climate change and environmental challenges. Come join us in our cleanup and conservation efforts for the Raritan River. We will also take this moment to remember and honor the victims, survivors, and families affected by 9/11 and join us in the felicitation of veterans and first responders. Together We Serve Better!

Through service and volunteerism, we can make a lasting impact on our communities. In an effort to clean, conserve and protect our Mother Earth, join the Sewa team to make a meaningful contribution to our environment and planet by cleaning up Wheaton Regional Park. For this event, we are collaborating with our partners -- Montgomery Parks, ADG, and many others.
This service activity would be followed by a commemoration ceremony in the memory of the 9/11 tragedy victims, fallen heroes, first responders, and volunteers. At this ceremony, we will also be appreciating all our volunteers who have participated in the environmental stewardship activities of the year-long campaign of Sewa International and will be providing them certificates. We invite one and all from public and our guests to join in this final volunteering activity of the initiative for the year, 2024. Refreshment would be served.
